I have removed the ability to comment on blog posts across tosbourn.com, if I am wrong about something and you feel the need to let me know (please do!) then you should Tweet or email me.
The reason I removed comments was two-fold.
- There is a tiny amount of administration involved in having comments on the site.
- I kind of agree with other people who think the majority of comments suck.
To address the first point, this blog is by no means popular but it does alright and even with anti-spam measures in place there are sometimes unhelpful or spammy comments get through, each one causing me to take time out of my day to administer.
The second point stems from some thoughts I have read on the subject of comments, one such point of view comes from Matt Gemmel, whom I have a lot of time for. Here is an article he posted a while back entitled Comments Off, in it he argues the case for not having comments on his own blog.
I should clarify that the majority of comments I have let through onto the site were high quality, and my decision to remove the ability to comment does not reflect on you awesome people who done so in the past!
So yeah, comments are now off and I cannot see them coming back for the foreseeable.
